Fresno, CA (May 20, 2009) – A new mixed-use development consisting of 39 quality living spaces and 10 commercial units will be making its way to the Fresno.
The Fultonia Live/Work Village will be located along Fulton Street in an area between downtown Fresno and the Tower District. The developer, TFS Investments, is redeveloping what was a 39-unit low-income apartment complex and 10 retail/office spaces and creating a new community.
When finished, The Fultonia Live/Work Village will be a bright, colorful complex of buildings, with palm trees, banners and balconies. The storefronts will have businesses such as retail shops, offices and small restaurants, and a large central courtyard plaza will be a place to gather and enjoy sunny days.
Eric Tienken of Tyco General, Inc., said that the project would be completed in about four to five months. Richard Deaver of Tyco came up with a name for what will be a new district, the SOTOW District, or South of Tower, located between downtown Fresno and the Tower District.
Terance Frazier, owner of TFS Investments, said that a number of entities have collaborated on the endeavor, and that it will create 60 to 70 jobs.
“Today is setting the stage, not only for me but for the city of Fresno, for them to understand what TFS Investments is trying to do to bring this collaboration partnership between the city government and also by private developers,” Frazier said.
During the press conference Wednesday morning, Frazier introduced Michael Thaler, a man he thinks of as his father. Thaler bought and sold properties in Oakland for a few decades, and taught a teenage Frazier about foreclosures and real estate.
“He’s taken whatever I did to a whole new higher level,” Thaler said. “It looks like a great plan.”
